Not a pathologic virus but a computer one. My work PC came down with a particularly nasty virus. I knew something was wrong when I did a Google search but was redirected to a completely different site when I clicked a search result. I immediately closed Firefox and did the search on my Mac. (Gotta love those Macs.) Even if I managed to get to a trusted site, the system would eventually come to a halt with 100% CPU usage. After trying Prevx, Malwarebytes, Spybot, and Windows own malicious software scanner, the machine was still infected. I finally downloaded Hitman Pro from Cnet tonight. It discovered the nasty rootkit (TDL3 aka Alureon) in less than 4 minutes. I think the system is clean, but I will know in the morning once I start using it.
