Don't waste your waiting

Waiting can be  frustrating. But from a different point of view, waiting is a gift of free time. With the latter in mind, sitting at an airport or on a plane won't be a bore or a chore. As I'll be gifted with 5 or 6 hours tomorrow, I'm looking forward to: I haven't read any of Dr. Wells' books in order, so I'm still deciding which book to bring.  Practicing crochet with  this pattern .  To borrow a phrase from our pastor, "With chocolate this good, the kingdom must be now."

Back home

We had a good visit with family, but it's nice to be home. My mom is recovering slowly. She is experiencing the usual post-surgery pain. We are awaiting the biopsy results which will determine whether she will need postoperative chemo or radiation treatment. We worked hard sorting through the remnants of more than 40 years worth of belongings at my parents' home. We brought home 9 boxes of books, 4 of which I am giving away. We found old pictures, letters and cards my parents sent to each other during their engagement. We also found dresses which my grandmother gave to my mom when she left China to come to college in the US. These were for her trousseau, when and if she ever married. My daughter was able to fit a few of the dresses so we brought those home as well. Our car was packed full. There are still 8 boxes at my sister's house that we need to bring back on our next trip. Oh, well. So much for trying to declutter.

Road trip

Tomorrow we are taking a brief trip to see my family. My mom's surgery is scheduled for 6:15 AM tomorrow. It is outpatient and should only take about four hours. My daughter has just come down with a cold today. She's running a mild fever and has the typical symptoms. I'd appreciate your prayers for safe travel, that I would stay healthy, that my daughter would be able to fight off this cold quickly, and for my mom's surgery. Thanks.
