Follies and Nonsense #105

Something real quick...

Follies and Nonsense #104

Saturday night comedy

We saw Tim Hawkins Saturday evening at one of his two sold-out performances at the historic Kimball Theatre in Williamsburg.  We went with several folks from our small group and had a great time.  Hawkins sang his famous Chick-fil-a song as well as many others.  He's quite a  talented guitarist as well as comedian.  I was curious whether he would incorporate any Christian humor since the venue was not a church.  However, he was unashamed about being a Christian.   The performance ended with a musical tribute to the 70's.  You could tell in the audience who was old enough to remember those tunes.  Among our group, I had the distinction of being the only person alive at the time those songs were written.  I also remembered why I vowed never to listen to pop music again. We weren't able to get tickets for the earlier performance, so it was quite late when the show ended. However, it was well worth it.

Another celebration for July 10

While many people are preparing to honor John Calvin's spiritual legacy on the 500th anniversary of his birth, another celebration of sorts is planned for the same day. Chick-fil-a is celebrating cow appreciation day on July 10th. They are giving away free combo meals throughout the day. However, the catch is that the customer has to dress from head to toe like a cow. A partial cow costume or accessory will get you a complimentary entree. Any takers?
