Thankful Thursday

White-throated sparrow

I am thankful for:

Wildlife neighbors - We had a short cold snap recently, so I scattered bird seed on the deck. There was quite an assortment of birds including cardinals, Eastern towhees, juncos, song sparrows, and white-throated sparrows. Sometimes the bigger birds would chase the smaller ones away, but they would be patient. As soon as the bully's head was turned away, the sparrows and juncos hopped back to partake of the food.

Sunshine and warmer temps - It's good to see the sun after several gray days. Thankfully, the forecasted sleet and ice didn't amount to much. I don't mind snow, but driving on ice is too risky.

Small group - Our last meeting was before Christmas, so it was good to have time in the Word and pray for each other last night.

The human brain - I'm reading a book that attempts to understand what makes us introverts versus extroverts. The brain is a physical object comprised of cells. Yet it is a mystery how this gray blob of matter affects who we are, how we think, and how we feel. It is a marvel of God's creative genius. I don't think scientists will ever unlock its mysteries because the secret things belong to the Lord.

A God who is true to His Word.
