1. Started as an idea to make money (ROFL)...but now is for fun and as a creative outlet.
ReplyDelete2. About 10 months
3. Depends, not usually long. It mostly in my head before writing
4. More than I should
5. Both
6. Positives: meeting other like-minded people and finding great resources and ideas
Negatives: Can be a BIG time-burglar
1. Mainly to get my thoughts out onto virtual paper, but also to post things that might be of interest.
ReplyDelete2. Since 2008
3. It depends. The more serious and theological, the longer it takes. (as in multiple hours)
4. More than I should, too. I try to skim in the morning and come back at the end of the day to leave a comment. If everyone on my blog roll posted everyday, it would be hard to stay up-to-date.
5. Backlog and whatever strikes me at the moment.
6. Pluses: I've have learned much from believers far and wide. The book recommendations have been invaluable. It's also nice to "meet" others with a similar sense of humor.
Minuses: I wish I had more time, because it takes time to blog well.
1. Why do you blog?
ReplyDeleteTo make God known. To encourage and help people. Tackle issues. Share my personal experiences.
Soli Deo Gloria.
2. How long have you been blogging?
Since early February, 2011.
3. How much time do you spend writing a post?
It depends. Some are longer, some are shorter. I also sometimes do posts that contain just a video, which of course is easy enough.
4. How much time to you spend reading blogs?
Not as much as I was, due to a bout with dizziness.
5. Do you have a backlog of ideas or do you post what's on your mind as you sit in front of your computer?
Kind of both.
6. Based on your experience, what are some positives and negatives about blogging?
+ It's fun; meet new people; gives you a "virtual pulpit"; spread the truth of God.
- Really, none.
1. I blog, first, to force myself to stop and think about my growth in my relationship with God, and second, to help others who are experiencing similar things that I am.
ReplyDelete2. I've been blogging for about four months.
3. I usually spend at least an hour or more on posts.
4. I probably spend about 30-45 mins a day in google reader.
5. I usually post what's on my mind or what I've been thinking about for a few days, but I do keep a backup of topics and posts for future use.
6. Pros: forces me to think clearly about issues by writing, in my studying for posts I learn more about God and myself, it gives me opportunities to be a encourage and influence others.
Cons: it takes time to do very good posts and without time, it's easy to settle for second-best work.
1. Why do you blog?
ReplyDeleteI like to write. I started out as an outlet due to a dose of postpartem depression. It has gone beyond that now to just sharing random thoughts.
2. How long have you been blogging?
Since around October 2009
3. How much time to you spend writing a post?
About 30 minutes at the most.
4. How much time to you spend reading blogs?
Too much. LOL. I use my phone so I read some here and there throughout the day. Usually around 40 minutes a day. (Longer if I take the time to comment.)
5. Do you have a backlog of ideas or do you post what's on your mind as you sit in front of your computer?
I do sometimes but I often never get around to writing from the "backlog." Usually it's what ever is on my mind.
6. Based on your experience, what are some positives and negatives about blogging?
Like you...I've added some AWESOME books to my book list due to good recommendations. I've learned so much from people who have already walked the road I'm on...and it is sometimes tremendous encouragement.
Negatives for me right now...just not enough time. I would love to write more but the home needs me more.
1. I blog because I like to write, and I like the discipline of putting something together regularly. Writing helps me to sort through things and process them, and find ways of articulating them. Putting them on a blog to be read helps me do the best I can.
ReplyDelete2. I have been blogging since October 2004.
3. The length of time depends on the topic. Some take about 20 minutes, and some a couple of days. If I'm writing a book reflection, it may take longer. I have had posts that took several days to write because I was wrestling with something as I wrote.
4. I am not entirely sure. I may sit down and read a few for ten or fifteen minutes in the day, and then read some more later. It also depends on if there are topics that are covered at length, like the Rob Bell book. I read a lot of blog posts about that, but other issues I won't spend as much time. I have a handful of ones I read daily.
5. I do a lot of writing in paper journals, and those are the source of many blog posts, but sometimes a topic just comes to me. I do find that the more I read, the easier the ideas come.
6. Positives are finding a likeminded group of women to share things with. Also a good way to find good resources for studying theology and learning. The negatives is that it can consume one, and we can get caught up in wanting feedback.
