This week's list:
~ The ladies in my church. In this week's meeting, we discussed the need to be open and vulnerable with one another so we can help one another actively appropriate God's grace. Afterwards, it was a privilege to see this in action as one sister was able to unburden her heart and receive prayer and encouragement. I am so glad to be walking with these women!
~ Our pastor and his wife, Ryan and Christie Davidson, for their godly counsel to us personally and their service to this little flock. Congratulations, Pastor, on receiving your Th.M. from Southern.
~ My daughter. We've been wrestling through defining forgiveness this week, wanting to go beyond the merely sentimental and pop psychology meanings it has taken, and having numerous conversations on the subject. (If you read this, Pastor, we have lots of questions!) I am encouraged by her desire to grasp the full-orbed Biblical truth and live it, particularly in her relationship with her father and his new wife. I praise God that she is seeing this season of life as an opportunity to be an ambassador for Christ rather than something to be endured for a few years. Like Esther, who knows how God may use her for such a time as this?
Tremendous things to be thankful for! Forgiving others is such a challenge and yet it is the responsibility of every one names the name of Christ.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to see your daughter's desire to grow in grace and truth, Persis!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool and refreshing drink of water you thankful post is today Persis. Life goes on and there's work to be done sweet sister!
ReplyDeleteGreat list of gratitude. I pray that God will bring you and your daughter all the answers you need and more! Blessings!
ReplyDeletePersis,
ReplyDeleteYes, this is wonderful that your daughter has a heart that desires to glorify the LORD in this very difficult area. I've been struggling myself with a certain situation and just ordered Jay Adam's book about forgiveness. May God pour out fresh supplies of grace on both you and your daughter as you walk this road. Love and hugs!
Trisha,
ReplyDeleteChris Brauns' book Unpacking Forgiveness is very good. What is the book by Jay Adams?
I have not arrived at a definition that I am comfortable with, but we're working on it.
As always, I am blessed by your humble expressions of gratitude, Persis.
ReplyDeleteI join the others in praising God for the grace of God that is on your precious little girl! It is an encouragement to my soul! And, I agree -- Chris Brauns's book, "Unpacking Forgiveness" was "breakthrough" for me!
Love you dearly sister!
Persis,
ReplyDeleteJay Adams' book is From Forgiven to Forgiving. I started reading it last night, and I've already been punched in the gut over and over. I've botched so much, and now I'm having to, by God's grace, do things right. Thank you for mentioning this other book. I'll give it a look, too. Hugs!
