~ The mocking bird who perches on the chimney and sings his heart out to his Creator.
~ Rain after a dry spell.
~The sweet scent of the gardenia bushes.
~ My daughter is home! It's so nice to talk, laugh, and fellowship together.
~ The evening of worship on Sunday. I'm thankful for the freedom to gather and praise the Lord through song. It was wonderful to hear the saints joining together in harmony.
~ The next generation in the church. I'm blessed to know brothers and sisters 20-30 years younger than myself. I'm encouraged by their zeal and energy and their serious desire to follow Christ.
~ Grace and strength for trials and that same grace and strength when every day seems so mundane.
~ Finally this quote from The Gospel Primer:
The gospel also reminds me that my righteous standing with God always holds firm regardless of my performance, because my standing is based solely on the work of Jesus and not mine. On my worst days of sin and failure, the gospel encourages me with God's unrelenting grace toward me. On my best days of victory and usefulness, the gospel keeps me relating to God solely on the basis of Jesus' righteousness, not mine. The Gospel Primer, Milton Vincent, Focus Publishing, 2008, pg. 20.
Persis-my resident Mocking birds have built a nest in the honeysuckle bush right outside of my dining room window-I have the best seat in the house! She has 4 eggs in there and I am expecting them to hatch any day-it usually takes about 2 weeks to hatch. I just hope a snake doesn't get to them.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to be able to make it to the blogging sisters "get together" in DC in August? I hope so!
Victoria:
ReplyDeleteYES!!!! God willing, we'll be going. I just found out about it this week from Diane.
I think I saw a young mocking bird today. The head looked downy but he was hopping around and flexing his wings. Hope you eggs stay safe.
Ah, the smell of gardenias! Its been a while but that is a lovely scent!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful list, Persis. Oh, we'd love to get some of your rain. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the quote from The Gospel Primer is very encouraging. Love and hugs to you, my sweet friend!
Persis, that's me....so sorry. Didn't realize Ink was signed in. HA!!!! He's gonna really love me for that one.
ReplyDeleteTrisha, I guessed it was you from the comment. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe word "gardenia" brings back the memory of Easter in Kathmandu, Nepal. We attended an outdoor service, and a large cross was erected and totally covered by gorgeous, fragrant gardenias. The scent wafted over us all through the service. It was so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm always inspired by your list and the photo almost smells good too. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
ReplyDeleteSweet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the freshness!
