This and that

Happy belated 4th.  The computer has been off due to the thunderstorms this week-end, so here's a catch-up post on life.

We've been kitty sitting for our friends.  I've never had felines, so this was a new experience.  They really do sit at an open door and make you wait while they decide whether to come in or not.  While I enjoy other people's cats and dogs, I think I'll stick to my beloved lagomorphs.

Due to a busy week, I was scrambling to finish a birthday present the day of the party. :( Here's a pic of the latest blanket for a special 1-year-old. Two down and at least 4 more blankets to go for this year.

Sunday was a full day between church and a pool party/cookout in the afternoon.  Hope to post more on the sermon on James 1:5-8 this week.  I've been writing out the book of James which has been good for scripture meditation as well as improving my penmanship.

Severe thunderstorms rolled in yesterday afternoon, so no fireworks. However, we had a fun evening eating watermelon and playing Scrabble with slight relaxation of the rules. If there was a free "L", I could have spelled TULIP.

  1. Happy 4th of July to you, Persis.

We had a shower come through at around sunset, but it was over in time for the 9pm fireworks show at a nearby park. We could see them from the street.

    Cats:
Fur Elise will often sit on the cat dining box and "ask" for food; then, after I have carefully dished it out and set it in front of her, the princess just walks away.

    Scrabble:
Okay, I see you allowed proper nouns.
Only one triple-word score? Those red spaces are SO ELUSIVE.

  2. Scrabbles is probably my favorite board game - it's all words, creativity, and more words. What's not to love? :)

I couldn't help to laugh when I saw "Arias" on the Scrabble board. Sweet. :)

  3. Persis-I can't wait till August to meet you-meanwhile back at the ranch-Mrs. Mocking bird has 4 chicks which hatched on July 1- and I have pictures-now I have to figure out how to get them to you for your viewing pleasure! lol
I just hope the snake does not get them. I will be taking pictures often and will keep you updated.

  4. What a beautiful blanket. We too had bad storms but they left just in time for the fireworks, although I would have been just as happy with Scrabble!! Blessings!

  5. WOW! I love the blanket; maybe one day I will get the needle, the thread and some fabric to make something that pretty.

If we were closer, we could get together to talk, saw and laugh!

    Hugs to you today, sister!

  6. @Corey:

The Reformed Squirrel came up with Arias. She looked at her letters and said, "I can spell a heretic!" What a way to start the game.

  8. ARIAS

My mind must've slipped off it's theological track, and on to it's musical track when I saw that word on your board.

I was thinking: the plural of aria.
