I am thankful for:
Air conditioning. Today's temperature is expected to top 100. With the high humidity, the heat index will be near 105. The historical average is in the mid to upper 80s, so we are having August-like temperatures in June. Therefore, I am exceedingly thankful for the inventive genius of Willis Haviland Carrier, the father of the modern air conditioner.
Serving the community. Yesterday the church held a free sale of household items and clothing for families in the community. The families were invited to a cookout and then they could help themselves to the items as they had need. We've been reaching out to the same families through several events like this one, and it's nice to see familiar faces. Our prayer is to show the love of Christ but also to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Although I was tired at the end of the day, it was a blessing to work side by side with my brothers and sisters in service.
My sister. Today is her birthday, so I am especially thankful for her. Even though we don't live as close as we would like, our heart ties are still strong. I appreciate her service to our parents and her service to her mother-in-law who is suffering from Alzheimer's. I am very thankful that she is my sister in Christ as well as by blood. As to which is the deeper bond, I would say it is the one that we share in Christ.
God's intervention in a potentially difficult situation over summer visitation. The details have not been ironed out yet, but I am relieved especially for my daughter's sake. I am thankful for God's grace in her life to keep her and enable her to grow even with this ongoing trial in her family. I would never have chosen this path for her, and before I believed in God's sovereignty, I would not believe that this was His path for her either. But our heavenly Father knows what is best. I don't know the end of the story, so who can tell how He will use this for His glory?

Blessings on your day!
We had hot, humid weather yesterday, too, and I was very thankful for our air conditioning.
